Lights, music, sounds, colours, art, food, and a sea of spectators all came to the fore as Melbourne held its fifth White Night on Feb 18. Starting at 7 pm and closing at 7 am, the all-night party had plenty to showcase. Save for a brief spell of protest against the city’s proposed laws against the homeless by a small group and arrest of two men responsible for trying to start a riot, the festival was a resounding success. People thronged the city to be a part of the festival which spread through Alexandra to Carlton Gardens with many highlights. “The creative theme for White Night 2017 was inspired by the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry quote “Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive. When the destructive analysis of day is gone, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again.” The White Night in pictures…
